Complementary & integrative health approaches

Formerly referred to as complementary and alternative medicine, complementary and integrative health approaches encompass a wide range of natural healing approaches that are now often integrated into conventional healing practices. This is especially the case with respect to the management of chronic and long-term health conditions. Other practices, such as meditation, yoga, and taking natural supplements are considered part of self-care practices.

My research in this area over the past 21 years has focused on mainly on the motivations and reasons why people choose to use these health approaches, as well as whether they do or do not disclose their use to their physicians and specialists.
